World sleep day inspired, we’ve decided to dedicate this week’s blog to sleep.
We think we can all agree that better sleep is the key to a better life.
Sleep is very important for our physical and mental well being, therefore your bedroom is the most important room in your house! So, why not make sure that it is designed to guarantee you better sleep?
The bedroom is normally the space where we dedicate time solely to ourselves. It’s where we unwind and relax. and where we restore energy. Here are some tips on how to make your bedroom space a sleep oasis.
1. Devote your bedroom to one thing and one thing only – sleep
Breakfast in bed? A cosy night-in and a movie marathon – in bed? Now, when everyone’s WFH (working from home), let’s admit – how many of us are doing this from our beds? It’s commonly known that people are most productive if they have a dedicated space for it.
It’s not easy for some if they have to work from home and have limited space. If you have to work from home in your bedroom then try and have a dedicated workspace that isn’t the bed if you can. If you can keep the bedroom for sleeping and your office, or a desk in the corner of your living room, is for working. So, in order to get a better nights sleep, we recommend removing all the electronics out of your bedroom. Straight away the space will feel calmer and a perfect place to unwind and relax. The perfect room for a good nights sleep.
2. Create the ambience
We all know the power of scent when it comes to relaxation. A scented candle not only insures the bedroom smells amazing but by taking deep breaths you will appreciate the smell and relax……. Always remember to blow out candles before you go to sleep.
If you would rather not burn a candle then electronic diffusers then try to make sure this is the only electronic device if the bedroom. These diffusers have been a wellness trend for a while now because of their calming effects.
For those of you, who are looking for the easiest (and the most affordable) option: simply pop some dried lavender into a little bag, made from a breathable material, such as cotton. Hang it next to your bed or slip it under your pillow.
3. Dress to impress… your bed!
First of all – dress your bed nicely. Treat it with an Egyptian cotton duvet set and some fluffy (but not too fluffy!) pillows. Ultimately, it’s not a piece of furniture that you’re making an effort for – it’s your sleepy self that will thank your later. Now, when your bed is dressed nicely – time to dress yourself. Invest in some fancy pyjamas. Whereas sometimes an old T-shirt and joggers might be the easiest option, enrich your daily bedtime routine with the ritual of slipping into silky PJ’s.
